We all want to live in gorgeous spaces but big interiors overhauls can be a lot to take on. Start with a few minor additions that can make a real impact, says Gabby...

Play with sculptural objects. A single stunning piece in a curved form, such as an heirloom vase or a bulbous candle holder, can speak volumes either on its own or arranged with other interesting shapes. Varying heights create interest and add dimension.

Try a curated bookshelf. This is actually your opportunity to create your own art display in nearly any room of a well-styled home. Display your travel finds, vintage treasures and favourite design books with effortless style.

Use a statement light fixture. Hang a chandelier and the eye is drawn to it – a bit like architectural jewellery.

I also love a metallic coffee table. It adds instant luxe.

Oversized mirrors are another great design trick. A large mirror adds character and depth, and can also be used cleverly to maximise light in a smaller space.

Layer together rich textures and moody hues with glints of metallics. Put lighter cushions and throws with chunky knits to create a stylish corner. Or, be brave and paint out your walls in deep teal, charcoal or dark indigo. flat15.com
