Remodelling their kitchen for the second time, Louise and Meyrick Chapman finally found the right balance of beauty and practicality
This kitchen is all about crisp lines with great storage. To keep the minimalist aesthetic, the cabinetry is almost all handle-free, with push mechanisms to open. The kickboards are just 50mm high with a shadow gap and drawers are hidden behind large cupboard fronts. As a keen cook, Louise chose two electric ovens, plus a combi steam oven and a 120cm 4-burner hob that can fit four large pans simultaneously. On the floor, what appears to be polished concrete is in fact a polymer that works more efficiently with underfloor heating. The spiral wine cellar, specified by Louise’s husband, is 3m deep and cools without any motorised elements. Finally, a Sonos computerised sound system is plastered directly into the walls.
