When MasterChef judge and chef Monica Galetti started planning her kitchen she knew it needed the latest cooking tech, and lots of room to entertain friends and family
This beautiful kitchen was a dream come true for professional London chef Monica Galetti who previously lived with a dilapidated galley work space for the first six months of moving into this 1930s house with her French sommelier husband, David and eight-year-old daughter, Anais. Having been advised about Halcyon Interiors on Wigmore Street, which specialises in precision Alno kitchens and top-of-the-range Miele appliances, Monica met designer Graham Robinson to discuss ideas. ‘Graham immediately grasped what I wanted, which was a hard-wearing, handleless, modern open-plan kitchen with a large island that was completely built around appliances.’ Monica specified she would need three ovens, two warmers and a sous-vide drawer as well as storage for wine, and originally they worked to the idea of a separate utility room, although this was abandoned later for a more open-plan look. ‘I also needed a space where I could do photoshoots with ease as well as somewhere to entertain a big group of friends and family.'
This Alno Star Dur kitchen combines a contemporary handleless door with a textured lacquer surface in Lava and Sand Grey and matching finger recess. The dark grey stone worktops are in Cemanto Spa quartz by Silestone.
Alno kitchen prices from Halcyon Interiors start from £15,000. Tel 0207 486 3080.
