Celebrate the Christmas countdown with a day out at a festive market. Enjoy a glass of warm mulled wine whilst Christmas shopping and indulging in warm treats, or if you're feeling more adventurous a day of ice skating and fair rides might be more your thing. We have compiled a mixture of our top markets around the UK this December.

Southbank Winter Festival, London

Kicking off early December, Christmas is a month-long celebration along the Thames, which will see a mixture of events including choir singing, cabaret dancing and concerts designed for the whole family to enjoy. Think ‘Dickens meets Elf’ for a warm winter wonderland of mulled wine and seasonal treats as well as some nifty gift ideas, all available from the wooden chalets which line the river. December 4th - 3rd January

Bath Christmas Market

Under twinkling lights and the backdrop of the Roman Baths, a pretty winter’s paradise is recreated yearly here in central Bath. With over 170 traditional wooden chalets lining the streets, offering everything from mince pies and local cheeses to handmade jewellery and cakes, there’s also a Santa’s Grotto and Après Ski Bar, as well as carol services at the nearby Bath Abbey to draw you in.

26th November - 13th December

Edinburgh’s Christmas

If ever you need an excuse to visit the magical location of Edinburgh, this Christmas festival could just be it. Located just outside the castle, there are light shows and fireworks as well as fair rides and Europe’s largest outdoor ice skating rink on offer. The actual market stretches from the Mound, along East Princes Street Gardens Terrace and around the Scott Monument. Festive fun for all the family. 20th November - 4th January
